The Situation

Many women and girls in Uganda live in communities where their economic rights, contributions and priorities have been largely overlooked. Gender inequalities feed patterns of underdevelopment and studies reveal that the most vulnerable women and girls belong to rural communities with a high proportion of the population living in poverty. Women and girls face unequal access to the resources needed to improve their economic and social status.

Our Mission

Our Vision

To inspire, educate and empower young women and girls to reach their full potential and become self-sufficient through resource programs, mentorship, life skills training, access to finance and development of additional livelihoods.

A peaceful, free and equitable society where women and girls are in charge of the decisions that affect their lives.

Our Programs

She Tribe

SheTribe is a community-based program that aims to end gender-based violence among young women and girls through education, advocacy and empowerment. We work to end harmful traditional practices such as Female Genital Mutilation and Child Marriage by creating safe spaces and disseminating information about sexual reproductive health and rights for women and girls.

She Boss

SheBoss is a 6-week training program for female micro entrepreneurs designed to accelerate the growth and success of microenterprises through an array of business development services that are critical to the entry, survival, productivity, competitiveness and growth of small businesses. Upon completion, entrepreneurs are linked to capital and flexible credit solutions.

She Codes

SheCodes is a 16-week full-time development course. Young women aged 18 to 25 from lower-income households are selected and trained to create technology solutions, given professional development mentorship and linked with potential employers for job opportunities. SheCodes aims to bridge the gender digital by including, upskilling and empowering women to be innovative.
